In this week’s blog post I talk about my 💯 bedroom makeover by yours truly.
I understand that for most people who rent, not much effort is put into redesigning or making the place look glam because after all, it’s not your place forever and I shared the same opinion till COVID-19 came and we were forced to be in our homes for months on end.
Then I realized rental or not, your living space must reflect your kind of person. It must be the one place the moment you get in, total peace should envelope you ,It’s the one place you should be happy to escape to.
Having come to this aha moment, I decided to brighten my little corner i.e my bedroom since I couldn’t do the whole house because budget budget constraint and my other house mates were not feeling my aha moment project. lol
So using Pinterest (which is one of my FAV apps and should be yours too) , i set about project makeover Abena’s bedroom on a budget.
I don’t have before pictures of my room but take it from me it was trash 🤣 and nothing like the sanctuary it was supposed to be.
Dont lemme bore you with plenty talk, lol.
Lets go for a photo walk to my bedroom…
PS : all pieces were sourced locally. 100% Ghana made even if i bought them from Orca
Didn’t change my bed because ei ,didn’t know beds were that expensive 🤣.

So what did I change or do differently ?
First of all there’s so much redesigning you can afford to do in a rented place so I had to work with what was already there . The predominant color in the room was brown : the in built wardrobe, the door, the burglar proof and my bed.
Therefore I decided to incorporate my makeover concept into the existing version
Painting
Nothing like a fresh white coat to give a room a clean look and that’s exactly what I did ! I painted the room first and instantly the place looked new ! So yes sometimes all you need is a new paint preferably white because I feel or realized white gives off a wider look.
This bedside table is one of my favorite in my room 😍.

So why are we seeing lots of wine color ?
well as I said I was working with a budget and in as much I wanted a Pinterest worthy room, my pocket had to make sense !
lol .
I already had wine curtains and I really liked it and it was still new( just about a year old ) so no way I was going to discard it therefore had to incorporate other wine themes : my throw pillows, my flower pot etc .
This is my first dressing table ever ! 🤣and boy am I happy with it ?!

I won’t lie , I have always been an indoor girl but now , ha I don’t even want to get out of my bed . It’s so cozy and warm and feels good !
My mental health is improved just because of this makeover, who would have thought! 😄
Who’s curious know how much this cost me in total ?

PS: lol I actually shot a video version of this post but I’m too shy to put it up because I gbaaed a lot 🤣 but it’s so nice .

You might look at mine and think oh this is too elaborate or not but you don’t have to do same , a paint here , a plant there might give the room the jazzy look you need to make your space look new or feel different .
When I started my makeover, my mother thought it was a waste of money , now my room is her favorite photo spot 🤣.
And she said something that stuck : “she said if you’re putting this much effort into a rental , that means when you get to own your place , perfection will be guaranteed”.
